Nancy Pelosi: History’s Greatest Stock Trader

“The best way to combat wealth inequality in the US is to allow citizens to copy Nancy Pelosi‚Äôs trades in real-time” – Dr. Parik Patel

In 2020 alone while the global economy was hit the hardest, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and her husband made $16.7 million from their investments, which came out to be a 50% return.

Let’s take a look at how her returns compared to some of the world’s most successful investment firms:

  • Blackrock: 13%
  • Berkshire Hathaway: 2%

Unfortunately for these firms they don’t have access to insider information as does Pelosi.

One of her recent great trades was when she invested heavily in Tesla days before Joe Biden signed off on laws which are beneficial to electrical vehicle manufacturers.

Following that she also loaded up on Google stock options right before their CEO had to testify on Capitol Hill. The House Judiciary Committee voted on anti-trust regulation.

This trade alone profited her $5,000,000

The hypocrisy is astounding as there are severe consequences for an individual that trades on insider information such as:

  • $5 million fine as an individual
  • $25 million fine as a business
  • Jail time up to 20 years

Pelosi’s Net Worth

Purely from her time in government Pelosi has amassed a net worth of

$190 million

Keep in mind that her salary as a politician is only $220,000.

Trades During Covid Chaos

In January and February of 2020, just days after the senate covid briefing and before the first market crash caused by COVID 4 U.S. senators sold millions of shares of stock, especially shares in hotels.

In total these 4 senators sold between $4.1m and $12.8m worth of shares. Dianne Feinstein, Richard Burr, Jim Inhoffe, Kelly Loefler all went on record to say they had not acted based on information received from the briefing, but instead just got lucky.

An investigation was initially opened to look into these suspicious trades, but was shortly dropped just 3 months after the February crash.

Trading Through Her Husband

Nancy Pelosi insider trading

Technically Nancy Pelosi doesn’t do any of her own trading, but instead her husband Paul Pelosi executes all transactions through his account.

When asked about her insider trading habits Nancy often replies with this statement:

The Speaker does not own any stocks. As you can see from the required disclosures, these transactions are marked “SP” for spouse. The Speaker has no prior knowledge or subsequent involvement in any transactions. “

This was just a short review of Nancy Pelosi’s trading history and we look forward to watching her moves in 2022, where she will once again undoubtedly outperform the market as well as every financial firm.
